Job Responsibilities:
* Provisioning of network elements based upon engineering guidelines. This includes the provisioning and configuration of routers, switches, site controllers, RF devices and Linux based servers
* Initiate data performance reports for new network elements
* Provide and update documentation and procedures
* Ability to meet aggressive deadlines
* Act as Tier 3 support for the Network Operations Center
Minimum Qualifications:
* Have and be able to demonstrate operational knowledge of the OSI model levels 1 through 3
* Demonstrate troubleshooting skills particularly in the area of telecommunications and data networks. This includes but is not limited to troubleshooting routers and switches to the circuit (DS1, DS3) level, troubleshoot and identify issues and resolutions relating to RF devices to include point to point microwaves
* Demonstrate skills in the configuration of routers, switches, RF devices and Linux/UNIX based platforms. Troubleshoot/verify and correct configuration issues on remote devices
* Manage SNMP protocol integration for new devices on network and create/update SNMP parameters for devices on network management console
* Configure, edit and verify VLAN configurations for remote devices such as switches, routers and RF devices. Troubleshoot network traffic issues related to VLAN implementation and/or configuration
* Edit and update/manage IP Tables for Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN)
* Implement and manage network redundancy protocols such as Spanning-Tree and Metro Ring Protocol (MRP). Test networks for specified failover scenarios using these protocols and document results
* Be able to recommend network design changes based upon original network design documents, MRP or Spanning-Tree failover test results, RF (microwave) and DS1/DS3 implementation
* Troubleshoot identify and repair network traffic flow issues relating to the design and/or implementation of Spanning-Tree or MRP
* At least 4+ years of direct involvement in a large LAN or MAN production network environment with hands on experience
* Highly motivated to get the job done and the demonstrated ability to remove barriers and achieve scheduled deadlines
* Great attention to detail
* Must be flexible and able to handle stressful situations
* Ability to work day, evening, night or weekend shifts as required
* Excellent customer interactions skills
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Previous experience with wireless systems that include point to point microwave devices
