interviewing below to start thinking about the process.
First and Foremost: Relax
- Your potential employer is a person just like you. Try not to
be intimidated, even though interviews can be awkward.
Prepare
-
Learn as much as you can about the company that you are interviewing with so that
you have questions for your potential employer. This shows organization on your
part and gives you more insight into the business.
-
Think about how you would answer common interview questions. Read through your resume
and think of examples that support each of your strengths or skills so that you
can go in-depth when asked about them.
-
Bring any certificates or references with you—and don’t forget a copy
of your resume.
- Search the internet for more information or pick up a book on
interviewing; these can be useful tools for preparing.
Dress for Success
- Dress in a manner that is similar to the company you are interviewing
for. Some places are strictly suits, others are business casual. A T3 Staffing representative
can give you some insight about the employer you will be meeting with.
Be on Time (or Even a Bit Early)
-
This means that you have confirmed the time and date of your interview, the name
of your interviewer and written it down so you can remember.
- You can be as early as a half hour, but no sooner. Five to 15
minutes early is ideal. If for some reason you are running late, always call as
soon as possible to give the company an estimated time of your arrival.
During the Interview
-
It’s impossible to prepare for every question that may be asked of you, so
if you are caught off- guard, it’s all right to take a moment in silence to
reflect on the question and think about your answer. An interviewer will most likely
appreciate your ability to focus.
-
It’s easy to be distracted if your nerves get the best of you. Try concentrating
on what the interviewer is saying, not your inner dialogue. This will help you answer
questions thoroughly and is a good way to keep calm.
- Try not to interrupt, and wait for cues to know when it is your
turn to talk. If there are any uncomfortable silences after you have given an answer,
put the ball in the interviewer’s court by saying something like “Is
there anything you’d like me to elaborate on?”
Finally: Be Yourself
- It’s an old cliché, but rings true. Your resume and
personality will speak for itself, and if you’re not a right fit for the position,
there will be plenty of other opportunities waiting for you with T3 Staffing.
